The President Gerald R. Ford, Jr. House is a historic home located at Alexandria, Virginia. It was the home of Gerald Ford and his family from the time of its construction until the Fords moved into the White House on August 19, 1974. It was built in 1955, and consists of a rectangular 2-story main block with a two-story eastern housing a garage and the master bedroom, and a one-story rear extension. A 20 foot by 40 foot swimming pool was added in 1961. The Secret Service converted the garage into a command post when Ford became Vice President in 1973. The house is typical of middle-class housing in the northern Virginia suburbs of Washington.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=National Register of Historic Places Inventory/Nomination: President Gerald R.
